It took me a lot of time to come up with a good selected picture of my cover page and then design it accordingly since I had taken a huge number of photos in my shoots. At last I came up with this vibrant photo for my cover. This seemed good to me since it has alot of vibrant bright colors suitable for a makeup magazine.
Masthead:
The title of my magazine, the masthead, was put in a MINDSET font since that font was italic and stylish enough to suit the type of magazine I will be making. This is the font that I chose.
And this is how it turned out to be on my main mast head, DREAM UP.
I set it up in a yellow font because its among vibrant colors already so looks more prominent and eye catching.
Main cover line:
My main cover line was on "Makeup products you never knew about". I used a True Crimes font for it and made it bolder with the color black and a yellow background, I preferred giving it a yellow background because my mast head was yellow too. Hence, black and yellow made a combination for my cover page as well as my main cover line. Also it went completely suitable on the black and white background that is of the shirt of my model. This is how my planned main cover line looked like :
Tag line:
This is what is under the main cover line that gives a short one line intro or detail about what the main cover line is about or what its article is about. Since I was using a black and yellow combination for the cover line I did here so too. But this time I made the background black and the font yellow so to differentiate between the coverline and the tag line.
Buzz word and puff:
The buzz word I used in my cover page was the one in the puff. Usually magazines have elliptical puffs but I wanted something different so I used a polygon puff which was a pentagon and filled it with the shade of purple again giving my page a vibrant look. The puff said "30 Hot Beauty Tips" and the same font was used as of in the main cover line, True Crimes. The buzz word here was the number 30.
And this is how I used photo shop to help me with this tool :
Other Cover lines:
These are some other cover lines I used for my magazine cover page. They are
1 ) Improve your skin by using these makeup products
2) Some steps to a sensational skin.
I did not use a tag line for the first cover line because it already took most of the space on my page as it was aligned and set up in that way as you can see in the pictures and follow ups below.
However I did use one with the second cover line and gave it a background of highlighted yellow, therefore contributing in my color pallet of black, yellow, white, and pink.
I did try using other options as fonts and styles and sizes for my cover lines but it didnt work out for me. Following is one of my attempts:
Other additions:
Further disecting my magazine I would also point out the issue date and the price of the magazine that I put up besides the mast head in a very small font.
My cover page's final look was as follows! I hope you like it!
